Arpevio Privacy Policy
Arpevio is a piano learning app that uses sign-in, MIDI input, practice scoring, song likes and leaderboards to provide interactive lessons. This policy explains what data the app handles and how it is used.
Information We Collect
- Account information, including your email address, Firebase user ID, sign-in provider and nickname.
- Practice information, including scores, liked songs, days played, streak and last play date.
- App and device information associated with your account, including the country code from your device region setting, app version, iOS version and app language. The app updates this information when one of these values changes.
- Profile and song images that you select from your photo library. These images are stored locally on your device.
- Imported MusicXML files and imported song cover images. These files are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded by the app.
- MIDI note and device interaction data used to evaluate lesson progress while you play.
- Product usage events, including screens opened, catalogue song identifiers, playback actions, lesson-start steps, search result counts and import workflow status. Search text, song titles, authors and imported file contents are not included in analytics events.
- Diagnostic information about crashes and non-fatal app errors, together with limited app and device context needed to investigate them.
- Local app data stored with SwiftData, UserDefaults and local cache files to keep the app working between launches.
You may use Arpevio with an anonymous Firebase account. The anonymous account has a Firebase user ID but does not include an email address. If you later link Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, the provider email address and sign-in provider are added to the same account, and your existing practice progress remains associated with it.
How We Use Information
- To sign you in and maintain your account.
- To show your nickname, scores, likes and leaderboard progress.
- To save practice progress and restore it across sessions.
- To understand where installs come from and improve localisation, compatibility and product performance.
- To display local profile photos, imported songs and imported song artwork.
- To connect to MIDI devices and provide real-time lesson feedback.
- To protect the app and backend services from abuse.
- To understand feature usage, identify where lesson starts fail or are abandoned and diagnose crashes and errors.
Third-Party Services
The app uses the following services to provide account, database, storage and app-integrity features:
- Sign in with Apple
- Google Sign-In
- Firebase Authentication
- Firebase Firestore
- Firebase Storage
- Firebase App Check
- Firebase Analytics
- Firebase Crashlytics
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Some data is processed by the services listed above so the app can provide authentication, catalogue song downloads, app-integrity checks, scores, likes and leaderboards.
Local Files and Imported Songs
MusicXML files and cover images that you import are stored locally on your device. The app does not upload those imported files to Firebase or another server.
Account Deletion
You can delete your account from Account > Profile > Delete Account. Account deletion removes your account profile, Firebase authentication account, scores, likes, private play stats and local imported songs on that device. Local app cache and user defaults are also cleared during the deletion flow.
Data Retention
Account and practice data is retained while your account exists. Local imported songs and images remain on your device until you delete them or delete your account. Server-side account data is deleted when you complete the in-app account deletion flow, except where retention is required for legal, security or abuse-prevention reasons.
Children
Arpevio is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without appropriate parent or guardian consent. If you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate consent, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when app functionality or legal requirements change. The effective date above shows when this policy was last updated.
